Coelacanth 1

A Coelacanth (Latimeria Menadoensis) thriving today.

The Coelacanths (Latimeria chalumnae and Latimeria menadoensis) are a group of living fossils, The only 2 left of the order Coelacanthiformes. They where thought to be extinct since the Dinosaur age, until in 1938 when a fisherman caught one. It is now known that only the 2 species are left and they thrive today in our oceans, though rarely seen. The modern specimens that we know are still living, are mostly seen off the coast of South Africa.

Scientists say, that whatever animal crosses the Coelacanth's eye, it will eat.
